Q: What *is* this server, anyways?
A: This server is running Minecraft, specifically version 1.20.6, using the Paper Minecraft Server jar and some plugins.
Q: Who is this server for?
A: Invite-only for a small, IRL (in real life) friend group.
Q: Why use this site instead of Realms?
A: First, this server is hosted for free on Scott King’s personal home server. This cuts down on the monthly costs quite a bit.
Second, Realms are fairly restrictive in what you can do, whereas self-hosted servers allow for plugins to enhance the gameplay and management of the server.
Third, the host (Scott King) wanted a way to review and moderate behaviors and attitudes amongst players (e.g. harassment, bullying, griefing, etc.), and neither Microsoft nor Realms offer any tools for the Realm owner.
Q: My child reported some unwanted behavior / griefing, how can I get that addressed?
A: Reach out to either myself (Scott King) or Seth Slettedahl and we will investigate and, if required, repair any griefing or pass along chat logs.
